Lower Salt River Paddle Guide

Mild Class I

Distance
12 Miles
Optimal Flow
500 – 1500 cfs
Floatable down to 300 cfs

The Lower Salt River is operated by SRP. Water flows directly out of Stewart Mountain Dam at Saguaro Lake.

Flow is seasonal (Spring through Fall). Release volumes are dictated by temperature, seasonal weather patterns, and agricultural irrigation demand.

💡
Low Water Alternative

Even when Stewart Mountain Dam isn’t releasing water, float from Phon D Sutton down to Granite Reef for a quick 1¼ to 2 hour run.
